Zoals u weet, won Kelly Schacht met haar installatie Un Tour d’Horizon de Prijs Jonge Belgische Schilderkunst 2011. Naar aanleiding van de laatste dag van de expo kunt u opnieuw haar performance bijwonen. Zeven personen staan opgesteld in de ruimte. Zijn het toevallige toeschouwers? Of duidelijk georkestreerde performers?
Kom zelf kijken op 11.09, van 14 tot 17 uur.

Kelly Schacht wint Prijs Jonge Schilderkunst wo 08/06/2011 -
Kelly Schacht, een 28-jarige kunstenares uit Gent, heeft de Prijs Jonge Schilderkunst 2011 gewonnen. De belangrijkste Belgische onderscheiding voor jong artistiek talent wordt om de twee jaar uitgereikt in Bozar.

De internationale jury koos unaniem voor Schacht, die vooral installaties maakt waarin ze de relatie tussen het kunstwerk, de ruimte en de toeschouwer exploreert. De jury looft de intensiteit waarmee ze dat doet.

Volgens de jury speelt ze met begrippen als auteurschap en originaliteit, en transformeert ze momenten en objecten uit het verleden tot een nieuwe esthetische ervaring. Het bekroonde werk van Kelly Schacht, “Un Tour d’Horizon”, is een sobere installatie van rollen wit papier.

Andere prijzen gingen naar Freek Wambacq, Pieterjan Ginckels, Paul Hendriks en David Catherall.

Het werk van de vijf winnaars en vijf andere laureaten wordt getoond op een tentoonstelling in Bozar die vanavond is geopend en nog loopt tot 11 september. De tien laureaten werden gekozen uit bijna 300 kandidaten. De jury zei onder de indruk te zijn van de algemene kwaliteit van de projecten van de tien finalisten.
